Indian men’s doubles from Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty qualified for the second round of the current Thailand Open on Wednesday. India’s world number 10 pair outclassed South Korean pair Kim Gi Jung and Lee Yong Dae 19-21, 21-16, 21-14 in the first round of the tournament. After losing a hard-fought opener, the Indian duo pulled out all the shots and took three straight points in the opening minutes of the second game. Shetty and Reddy held the lead throughout the game and clinched it 21-16.

The Indian pair continued their dominance in the match and kept the momentum going to win Game 3 21-14. The meeting lasted an hour and eight minutes.
In another men’s doubles clash, Indian pair Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun lost to Malaysian pair Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi 13-21, 21-8, 24-22 in the first round after delivering a big fight.
India’s PV Sindhu withdrew from the tournament on Tuesday after losing to Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt in the first round.
