Indian men’s doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty withdrew from the Thailand Open on Thursday after falling in a second round loss. The duo were beaten by the Indonesian duo of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in consecutive matches 21-19, 21-17. Rankireddy and Shetty failed to start from the start and the duo were defeated in back-to-back matches. The second round match lasted 34 minutes and the Indian duo stumbled to withdraw from the tournament.
Rankireddy and Shetty had entered the second round of the Thailand Open underway here on Wednesday. India’s world number ten pair outclassed South Korean pair Kim Gi Jung and Lee Yong Dae 19-21, 21-16, 21-14 in the first round of the tournament.
Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth will be in action later today in their respective second round matches.
PV Sindhu had previously been eliminated from the tournament after suffering a defeat in the first round.
