The World Badminton Federation (BWF) announced on Wednesday that a German coach and a member of the French team’s entourage, who are participating in the current Thailand Open, have tested positive for the coronavirus. “The World Badminton Federation (BWF) can confirm that a German coach and a member of the French team’s entourage participating in the Thailand Open as part of the Asian leg of the BWF World Tour in Bangkok, Thailand, are positive for COVID-19, “BWF said in a statement.
BWF said the two produced a positive result in a mandatory PCR test carried out on Tuesday. The positive results were then confirmed on Wednesday in a secondary test.

“They are currently in the hospital for further observation and testing, and must remain in the hospital for at least 10 days,” the statement said.
“Strict testing and contact tracing protocols have been activated by the Thai health authorities, the Thai Badminton Association (BAT) and the BWF to ensure the safety of all other participants. All players tested on Tuesday January 12th have returned a negative result, ”he added.
