The list of ‘Marvel Snap’ cards from series 4 and 5 that will soon be easier to get

Marvel Snap finally read the room and issued a notice about cards that it would be dropping from Series 4 to Series 3, and from Series 5 to Series 4, as an ongoing issue with the game is the near-total inaccessibility of newly introduced cards, with how rare they are.

They don’t all drop, just 4-5 from each category, and that leaves us with a still large Series 5 pool, where the newest cards are introduced, and some leftovers that were in Series 4 from the start. Here’s the list of what’s dropping from January 31, and presumably more will drop each month, minus Thanos and Galactus, who they say will be Series 5 forever.

Series 4 to Series 3:

  • Absorbing human
  • Titania
  • She Hulk
  • Luke Kooi

Series 5 to Series 4:

  • Super Skrull
  • Valkyrie
  • Shuri
  • Black Panther
  • Bark

These are actually pretty good lists with some powerful cards in them. It could have been easy to choose, like M’Baku and Helicarrier, but they did pick some obvious on-meta cards. Although now know cards will fall probably makes people less likely to spend more tokens on higher series given the size of a pain token pool. I have a friend who just bought She-Hulk for 3,000 tokens who isn’t exactly thrilled at this point. But no refund.

Here are the cards that will remain in both series once this change is made:

Series 4 (plus the one above):

  • Mary Hill
  • Officer Coulson
  • Helicopter
  • M’baku
  • Attuma
  • Orca

Series 5:

  • Dark hawk
  • Galactus
  • lump
  • Sentry
  • Thanos
  • Sauron
  • Dazzling
  • Shadow King
  • Shanna

Four of them will be added in the course of this season. Silver Surfer from last season will be added from the battle pass if he isn’t already. Sauron went live yesterday, I believe. It seems like all new maps start at Series 5 and then decrease over time. I’m still not sure if this solves the problem of hardly anyone getting new cards introduced every month, rather waiting for months old cards to finally drop. But at least they are finally are drop, which is a change from the past few months where everything has stayed in place.

Marvel Snap still has a lot to figure out to get its economics right, but at least this change is positive overall.
