Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal chaired a high-level meeting on Thursday on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. During the meeting, the Minister of Education has published an indicative and suggestive implementation plan for school education called “Students” and Holistic Teachers Advancement Through Quality Education or SARTHAQ. Pokhriyal said that SARTHAQ was launched in pursuit of the goals of NEP2020 and to assist States / UT in this task. Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare, School Education Secretary Anita Karwal and other senior officials also attended the meeting today.
The Minister said: “SARTHAQ will pave the way for children to meet the various national and global challenges of the present and the future. It will help them imbibe the skills of the 21st century, as well as the tradition, culture and value system of India, as envisioned by the National Education Policy. 2020. SARTHAQ would benefit all stakeholders including 25 crore students, 15 lakh schools, 94 lakh teachers. “
According to the official statement, the plan keeps in mind the concurrent nature of education and adheres to the spirit of federalism.
“States and UTs have the flexibility to adapt this plan to local contextualization and modify it according to their needs and requirements. This implementation plan sets the roadmap and the way forward for the implementation of NEP, 2020 for the next 10 years, which is very important for its smooth and efficient implementation, ”the statement said. .
He also said: “SARTHAQ was developed through a broad and intensive consultative process with States and UTs, autonomous bodies and suggestions received from all stakeholders; approximately 7177 suggestions / contributions were received from them. A teachers’ festival, ‘ShikshakParv’ was specially organized by September 8-25, 2020 to discuss the various NEP 2020 recommendations and its implementation strategies, which attracted around 15 lakh suggestions. “
Pokhriyal said: “Just like the policy itself, the plan is also interactive, flexible and inclusive. The main objective of SARTHAQ is to define activities in such a way as to clearly delineate objectives, results and timeframe, i.e. it links the NEP recommendation to 297 tasks. as well as the responsible agencies, the deadlines and 304 products of these tasks. “
He also said: “There has also been an attempt to offer activities in a way that builds on the existing structure rather than creating new ones. Thus, SARTHAQ takes care of the spirit and intent of the Policy and plans to be implemented in a phased manner. “
