The first trailer for Andoro was honestly one of the best things Disney has done Star Wars the whole year. I’d rather watch that trailer over and over than have to watch it again Boba Fett’s book or the hugely disappointing Obi Wan Kenobi.
The second trailer is even better. This is what I wanted from a Star Wars show since The Mandalorian proved they could do it right. Like the best parts of mando, this focuses on a smaller portion of the galaxy that is not occupied by the Skywalkers and their nasty legacy.
Like rogue one, this looks dark and deftly crafted, a thrilling dive into the rebellion at the height of the empire’s might.
Here’s the trailer:
Andoro takes place before the events of Rogue One (obviously) when the uprising was just beginning. Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Stellan Skarsgard as Luthen and Alan Tudyk as the droid K-2SO.
The three-episode series premiere comes to Disney+ on September 21, joining a busy roster of major, highly anticipated shows such as House of the Dragon (HBO, 21 August) and Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Amazon, Sept. 2).
I know I can’t hope – the last two Star Wars Disney Plus flops taught me so much, but revolts are built on hope and I’m a perpetual optimist. I really hope this doesn’t disappoint me.
