LOS ANGELES (TBEN) – Golfer Tiger Woods was hospitalized after his car overturned on Tuesday in the Rancho Palos Verdes area, authorities said.
The crash was reported just after 7 a.m. when sheriff officials responded to a collision with a single vehicle at the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, according to a LASD statement.

Sheriff officials say the car was traveling north on Hawthorne Boulevard in Blackhorse Road when it crashed and sustained “major damage.”

The driver – later identified as Woods – must have been exited with the “jaws of life” and was then taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.
Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg released this statement Tuesday morning: “Tiger Woods was in a single car accident this morning in California where he sustained multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support. “
It’s unclear what the 15-time major champion with 82 career PGA Tour wins did before the crash, but actor David Spade posted a photo on social media thanking Woods for a golf lesson.

Woods is recovering from fifth microdiscectomy surgery on his back with hopes of playing professionally later this year.
