Tottenham reportedly intend to intensify their interest in Jannik Vestergaard this summer following their defensive disaster against Newcastle last weekend.
Jose Mourinho’s men still have a chance to clinch a top-four spot and Champions League football this season, despite their poor performance in the 2-2 draw at St James’ Park. They are currently three points behind fourth-placed West Ham with the small question of a League Cup final on the horizon as well.
But despite this, there have been negative reports regarding the performance on Tyneside. They mostly moved away from the defensive display, which was chaotic at times.
Spurs made glaring mistakes for both Newcastle goals, with former record-signing Davinson Sanchez involved in both.
This has led to strong rumors once again that Mourinho will prioritize to another center-back this summer.
Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar remains his first target, but Slovak could be avoided with a switch. However, a cheaper option has appeared in Southampton, ace Vestergaard.
The 28-year-old is out of contract in 2022, so unless the Saints can agree on an extension, they could be vulnerable to discounted offers.
To this end, the Daily Express declares that the Denmark international will cost around £ 18million.
This kind of charge will be music to Daniel Levy’s ears. The president of Tottenham will likely have a limited budget to work this summer due to the constraints of Covid-19.
Spurs had great success in raids on Southampton last summer when they picked up Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in a business. And Mourinho will be hoping for more of the same as he seeks to solve the bigger problem on his end.

Aguero plans to move to Tottenham
Tottenham have entered the race to sign Sergio Aguero when they leave Manchester City at the end of the season, according to reports.
Aguero’s departure from City was recently confirmed, attacking him in the final months of his contract. But after leaving the club at the end of the season, there could still be a chance for him to stay in the Premier League with someone else.
Aguero has proven himself as one of the Premier League’s greatest strikers during his decade with City. He is their all-time leading scorer, but has struggled this season.
Injuries have halted his progress in recent months and he has scored just one league goal this season. It was a sanction against Fulham, threatened with relegation.
Therefore, City decided to leave Aguero at the end of the campaign. The 32-year-old will be one of the most requested free agents around.
Determined to prove a point, there is every chance that Aguero can stay in Europe. Moreover, his next club could be another in the Premier League.
Aguero is free to discuss terms with other clubs now that he has a few months to go to finalize his deal with City. Therefore, his entourage will undoubtedly explore their options – with Spurs and Chelsea among them.
