Reports claim that there is a good chance that right-back Hector Bellerin will leave Arsenal during the summer transfer window.
Bellerin, 26, has been with the Gunners since 2011. He left the Barcelona youth squad to join Arsenal youth before joining the senior squad in 2013. The Spaniard has made 234 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine times for the north. Londoners. However, it seems to have slipped in the pecking order lately.
Having started 22 Premier League games this season, he has been on the bench for five years. Calum rooms and Cedric Soares were selected before him.
And it seems that his the days in the Emirates can now be numbered. Journalist Fabrizio Romano – a specialist in transfer rumors – took to Twitter to give his opinion.
The 28-year-old believes there is a “ huge chance ” that the Spain international will be on the way in the offseason. The Italian goes on to say that Paris Saint-Germain might be interested in the defender.
PSG transfer guru Leonardo was interested in Bellerin last summer, but nothing has come to fruition. And it is believed that the Ligue 1 giants may well return to try and strike a deal on the line this time around.
There is no mention of possible transfer fees, but the Premier League club will want a decent price.
No deal Bellerin at reduced price
The current pandemic means the finances of the football world are tight. It is open to debate whether there will be mega-deals during the summer months.
There may be some bargains to be had, but Arsenal have all the assets in the relationship with Bellerin. The Barcelona-born ace is under contract until 2023.
He is still a highly regarded player despite his marginalization in recent weeks. Romano adds that other clubs will enter the photo and it will be an “open race” for his signing.
This will certainly increase its valuation, meaning Arsenal won’t have to offer a ‘discount’. It’s unclear if Mikel Arteta sees Bellerin in her long-term plans.
Arsenal’s poor campaign means there will likely be new additions to the squad before the start of 2021-2022. The players will therefore leave and the former Gunner Bacary Sagna feels that Bellerin will be gone.
“Hector has been there for years,” he said. Goal last month. “He started playing shortly after I left, so he’s been with the team for about six years.
“And a bit like I felt, he probably feels like he wants to question himself because he’s been there for a long time.
