Two dead in New Plymouth, several injured in Auckland motorway accident

Two people were killed in an accident in New Plymouth this morning and seven people were injured in an accident near the Waterview Tunnel in Auckland.

Four others were also seriously injured in the New Plymouth crash.

Police said they were called to a two-vehicle accident on the Main North Road in Motunui at around 1:30am this morning.

Two people died on the spot and the four injured were in serious and critical condition.

Police said the road would remain closed for several hours and advised motorists not to travel through the area.

Meanwhile, in Auckland, several people were injured after a crash in Auckland’s Waterview Tunnel.

Emergency services were called to the suburb of Waterview just after 11:15 p.m. last night.

Seven people were treated, six of them in a serious condition.

Police have been approached for comment.
