Two shots fired in attempted robbery in Reseda; body found nearby can be linked

Two people were shot and injured overnight in a robbery in Reseda, and a body found near the crime scene may be linked, police said.

The shooting happened around midnight near a tattoo parlor on Sherman Way, said Matthew Cruz, a Los Angeles Police Department officer. The two male victims were attending an event at the store when three suspects pulled into a car and attempted a robbery, firing several shots, Cruz said.

The suspects fled in a vehicle before police arrived and are still at large, Cruz said. The victims, whose identities have not been released, were taken to a local hospital and were admitted in stable condition.

Video from the crime scene showed about 12 shell casings on the ground where the incident took place.

Less than an hour after the shooting, officers received a call about a body found on Saticoy Street, a mile from the tattoo parlor, LAPD officer Rosario Cervantes said.

The unidentified male victim had gunshot wounds, she said. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, Cervantes said.

LAPD said they have no information about the suspect at this time. Investigators are investigating the possibility that the two incidents are related.

“So far, detectives have not said the two calls are related, but they are investigating all possibilities,” Cervantes said.
