If we, as observers and media consumers, have learned one thing after nine months of war in Ukraine, it is this: do not trust anyone who poses as a military expert and explains the situation without having been to Ukraine at all. Especially at the beginning of the invasion, the failure of many media outlets to recognize important developments was all too evident. This applies not only to the actual media reports, but also to many of the “experts” quoted there.
