United Nations, United States:
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Myanmar’s “use of lethal force” after two people were killed on Saturday when security forces opened fire on protesters in Mandalay, the second largest city of the country.
I condemn the use of deadly violence in Myanmar.
The use of lethal force, intimidation and harassment against peaceful protesters is unacceptable.
Everyone has the right to assemble peacefully. I call on all parties to respect the election results and return to civilian rule.
