The social media star wrote on Twitter: “Muslim owners don’t want to rent me a house because of the way I dress, Hindi owners don’t want to rent me because I’m Muslim. Some owners have a problem with the political threats I get. Finding a rental apartment in Mumbai is so difficult.”

Urfi Javed’s Twitter post went insanely viral with about a lakh views in just a few hours, with many netizens sympathizing with her plight of not finding a home due to her religion and the way she chooses to dress.

A Twitter user said what she finds while looking for apartments in Mumbai is “unconstitutional and wrong” while some netizens urged her to “dress appropriately” when meeting landlords and looking for homes in Mumbai.

Recently, Urfi Javed was subpoenaed by the Mumbai Police in connection with a complaint filed against her by BJP leader Chitra Wagh for “revealing clothes in public”. Urfi Javed had taken to social media to criticize Wagh over her complaint, saying women in ancient India also dressed similarly.
