MET officials announced the closure of schools on Friday (September 16, 2022) after heavy rains that have plagued Lucknow for the past 24 hours. The district administration has decided that the schools will remain closed early in the morning today.
According to the order of District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar, schools affiliated with all boards will remain closed until class 12 on Friday after heavy rains and flooding in many parts of the city.

The school management has been asked to communicate to all parents and students via their respective WhatsApp groups that the schools will remain closed due to the bad weather and heavy rainfall.
The decision applies to all schools in the city and in the countryside. Several districts in Uttar Pradesh including Jhansi, Orai, Lucknow, Kanpur and Bahraich have witnessed heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours.

The belt of heavy rainfall will extend over the next two days, covering Bareilly, Pilibhit, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Mainpuri, Hardoi, Sitapur, Lucknow, Kanpur and Prayagraj, Met Department officials said.
