Indian coach Ravi Shastri said Virat Kohli made the “right decision” to return home for the birth of his first child while admitting that the skipper would “obviously” be missing in the Test series against Australia. Kohli is expected to miss three tests in the next series against Australia. He was granted paternity leave from the Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI) and as a result he will only feature in the opening test of the four-game series.

“I think that’s the right decision he’s making. Those moments don’t come again and again. He has the opportunity, he’s going back, and I think he’ll be happier for it,” Shastri told TBEN Sport, cited by The Bharat Express News.
