India Cricket Control Board (BCCI) Treasurer Arun Dhumal on Monday denied reports on Monday that Virat Kohli resigned as Indian skipper after the T20 World Cup, saying the board had not discussed anything about it and that he would continue captain of the team in all formats. “This is just garbage. Nothing as such is going to happen. This is all a media creation,” Arun Dhumal told The Bharat Express News. “The BCCI has neither met nor discussed anything on this issue,” he said.

Kohli captained India in 45 T20 Internationals (T20I) and 95 ODI, leading the team to 27 wins in the shortest format and 65 in ODI.

The T20 World Cup kicks off on October 17 and runs through November 14 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. India will open their campaign against rivals Pakistan on October 24 in the Super12 Group Stage 2 opener.

India has been grouped together with Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan. Two other teams that will qualify in the first round will join them.

The first semi-final is set to be played in Abu Dhabi on November 10, while Dubai will host the second semi-final the next day. The two semi-finals will have reserve days.

The T20 World Cup final is scheduled to be played on November 14 in Dubai, with November 15 set aside as a reserve day.

India recently named their team for the flagship event and announced the appointment of former captain MS Dhoni as the team’s mentor for the tournament.
