The Volkswagen Taigun SUV will launch on September 23, 2021.
Volkswagen India is set to make its mark in the compact SUV space with the Taigun SUV. The Taigun is the first product based on the company’s platform designed specifically to meet the needs of the Indian public – the MQB A0 IN. The Taigun will face Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, among others. While the Taigun will be a feature-rich SUV, the company will be competitively priced. The price of Taigun is likely to be between 10.2 lakh and up to ₹ 15 lakh. In terms of appearance, the Volkswagen Taigun conforms to the automaker’s latest design language, with sharp edges and bold character lines, generous use of chrome, especially on the premium GT variant. It also comes with high-end elements such as LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 17-inch two-tone alloy rims, a joint LED taillight with sporty black elements and a sturdy coating with chrome inserts and fake skid plates, which gives it a very high-end appeal. .

The Volkswagen Taigun comes with two turbocharged gasoline engine options – the 1.0-liter three-cylinder TSI engine and a four-liter 1.5-liter TSI engine. The former is tuned to produce 113 hp and 175 Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder TSI unit develops 148 hp and 250 Nm of torque, while paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.
