WATCH: Armed gang detain Bluff store staff, flee with cellphones

KwaZulu-Natal POLICE are searching for a group of suspects who fled with loot valued at thousands of rand after an armed robbery at a store on the Bluff outside Durban.

In a video clip that surfaced on Twitter, the men are seen looking at items in shop windows. The men seem restless and walk up and down in front of the windows.

One of the men is then seen holding a screwdriver near a cabinet and a member of staff approaches him. One of the suspects then brandishes a gun and the staff member raises his hands. Seeing what is happening, a customer also walks away from the men, hands in the air.

One of the suspects pulls out a bag as his accomplice can be seen opening the window.

The men load items into the bag while a third man stands guard at the door. He is holding a gun. Buyers are seen walking out of the store. A buyer is lying on the floor.

After the men fill the bag, they run out of the store before what appears to be a smoke alarm goes off.

According to the provincial spokesperson for SAPS, Captain Nqobile Gwala, a theft case is being investigated by Brighton Beach SAPS.

“It is alleged that on April 5, 2021 at 10:57 am, a group of armed suspects entered the business premises located on Tara Road. They broke the window and took cell phones. The suspects fled the scene in their getaway vehicle, ”she said. .
