The sun was partially blocked by the moon. Looks like the moon is biting the sun.

It was the first solar eclipse visible from North America since the August 2017 total eclipse.
You would have to go very far north to see the most spectacular angle, the so-called “Ring of Fire Eclipse”.

It was then that the moon passed over most of the sun, leaving a ring.
