New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has lashed out at the state’s opposition for not attending the governor’s swearing-in ceremony.
Mamata Banerjee said, ‘We invited you to the governor’s oath, but you all didn’t come. In fact, leftist leader Biman Bose attended the ceremony, I am grateful to him.”
Meanwhile, V Ananda Bose was sworn in as the new governor of West Bengal on Wednesday.
He was sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Calcutta, Prakash Shrivastava, in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, other state ministers and Speaker Biman Banerjee at a program at the Raj Bhavan.
However, opposition leader in the state assembly Suvendu Adhikari skipped the program.
Bose, a retired IAS officer from the Kerala cadre of the 1977 party, was appointed the new governor of West Bengal on 17 November.
He replaced La Ganesan as governor. Bose was a trustee of the National Museum in Kolkata before retiring in 2011.
