Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced on Tuesday that Dasun Shanaka was unable to travel with the team for the West Indies tour due to a problem with obtaining his visa. SLC said it was working closely with the relevant authorities to resolve the visa issue.
“Sri Lanka Cricket would like to inform that Dasun Shanaka, who was appointed to the ‘White Ball Squad’ to visit the West Indies, did not travel with the team due to a problem with obtaining his visa.” SLC said in a statement.
Shanaka faced this problem following the loss of his passport, which had a valid visa stamped on it for the United States. Sri Lanka Cricket is working closely with the relevant authorities to resolve the visa issue as quickly as possible. de Shanaka should join the team once the issue is resolved, ”he added.
On Monday, SLC announced the ODI and T20I teams for the Windies tour and named Shanaka captain of Sri Lanka’s T20I. Dimuth Karunaratne will lead the team in ODI.
“Sri Lanka Cricket would like to announce the appointment of Dasun Shanaka as captain of Sri Lanka’s T20I for Tour of the West Indies. He has been nominated by national selectors,” SLC said.

During the tour, Sri Lanka will play three T20Is, three ODIs and two test matches against the West Indies in a bio-secure environment in Antigua from March 3 to April 2.
