Calcutta / New Delhi:

Rujira Banerjee’s wife, Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, has been invited to join the Central Investigation Bureau’s investigations in a case involving allegations of smuggling of coal. The CBI team visited Mr Banerjee’s home in Kolkata today to send him a summons in the case, sources told The Bharat Express News.

The allegations are that the coal mafia regularly paid bribes to leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress in Bengal. The money was channeled through the party’s youth leader Vinay Mishra, who is being scanned in the case and is currently on the run. The agency issued a warrant of non-release against him.

The central agency filed the case in November last year to investigate allegations of illegal mining and theft of coal in the Kunustoria and Kajoria coal fields of Eastern Coalfield Limited.
