Aryan Khan bail plea: 20 arrests made in cruise drug case

The Bombay High Court will hear today the bail application for Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, who has been in jail since October 8 in the cruise drug case. The superstar’s 23-year-old son has been denied bail twice.

The plea came to court as Sameer Wankhede, the Narcotics Control Officer of the Investigating Bureau, was hit with a demand for repayment of Rs 8 crore by a witness in the case.

The anti-drug agency backed the officer, citing an “impeccable service record”. Regarding the claim for reimbursement – by Prabhakar Sail, a witness in the case – the BCN said Mr Sail had become “hostile”.

Last week, a special court in Mumbai said that discussions on Aryan Khan’s WhatsApp indicated “that he regularly engages in illicit drug activity of narcotics”, so it cannot be said that he does not. is not likely to commit similar offenses while on bail.

The court also said documents on file indicated a “connection” between Aryan Khan and the vendors and hawkers.

Although no drugs were found on Aryan Khan, the court said he knew about six grams of charas hidden in his friend Arbaaz Merchant’s shoe, and this amounted to “conscious possession”.

Lawyers Satish Maneshinde and Amit Desai, appearing for Aryan Khan, argued in court that the NCB was “misinterpreting” his WhatsApp discussions to implicate him.

Aryan Khan also questioned the claim of the special court, while denying him bail, that, since he is an influential person, he could tamper with evidence in the case if released.

“There is no presumption in law that just because a person is influential they are likely to tamper with the evidence,” the appeal said.

Aryan Khan, his friend Arbaaz Merchant and model Munmun Dhamecha, and five others were arrested after officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided a rave party on a cruise ship off Mumbai October 2. Since then, the number of arrests has decreased. up to 20.

On October 21, Shah Rukh Khan went to Arthur Road Prison in Mumbai to meet his son. It was their first physical encounter. Earlier, Aryan Khan had spoken to his parents on a video call.

The drug affair also sparked a political row with the government of Maharashtra accusing the BCN of targeting specific individuals on the orders of the Center.

NCP chief Nawab Malik, who has spearheaded criticism of the drug agency and its investigations into the Aryan Khan case, has alleged a forgery related to Sameer Wankhede’s birth document.

Mr Wankhede retaliated by saying it was an “unnecessary invasion” of his family’s privacy, adding that it “was intended to slander me, my family, my father and my late mother.”
