The Indian players’ schedule leading up to the World Test Championship final includes, assuming they qualify, four Test matches and three One-Day Internationals (ODI) against Australia. Team India kept their ICC World Test Championship title chances alive:

South Africa’s 2-1 Test series loss to England in September bolstered the Indian cricket team’s prospects of qualifying for the World Test Championship Final. With two consecutive defeats in England, Dean Elgar’s team’s WTC points percentage (PCT) fell from 75 to 60.

Earlier in July, Team India fell to England by 7 wickets in the rescheduled Fifth Test at Edgbaston. To make matters worse, they penalized two WTC points for a slow overrun in England.

After winning the test against Bangladesh, Team India has moved up to second place in the 2021-23 ICC Test Championships points table. India’s win percentage increased from 55.77 to 58.93 with 8 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws. India now has 99 points, including 5 penalties.
India are currently second in the WTC team standings and the next home test series against Australia will determine their fate.
