The first night of WWE NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver was a success for the company based on fan feedback on social media.
He had a night of big action with 5 games including a big title change in the main event in Orlando, Fla. At the Capitol Wrestling Center. The show aired on both USA Network and Peacock. Unlike Thursday’s second night, Wednesday’s show had a fixed time slot on the US network, which meant WWE had to complete the show on time and couldn’t go past its scheduled overrun.
Headlining Raquel Gonzalez defeated Io Shirai to win the NXT Women’s Title. The game got off to a late start and the performers had a fast pace throughout the game. It looked like they were rushing through the spots and it turns out there’s a reason why.
Fightful Select reports that Shirai and Gonzalez had to adjust what they had planned for their match due to how long a match earlier that night lasted a long time. Thus, WWE reduced the time of the main event.
WWE returns with the second night of TakeOver which will feature the main event where Finn Balor defends the NXT title against Karrion Kross.
