Based on what happened during the closing moments of Monday Night Raw, it looks like a top star will be off TV for a while.
Tonight’s episode was all about Edge vs. Dominik Mysterio. Edge went ahead with the match despite Rey Mysterio’s pleas earlier in the show.
Towards the end of the match, Rey jumped into the ring to beg Edge not to spear his son. The rest of The Judgment Day attacked, and Edge was taken by several chairs to Dominik’s leg and the Coup de Grace on top of one of Balor’s chairs. Jimmy Smith’s then immediately said it looked like Edge’s leg might have been broken.
The angle came across as a way of writing Edge off TV, as these types of attacks are usually done to give someone time off. Edge doesn’t have a full-time schedule, so he can take a vacation for a few weeks or a few months and then resume the storyline when he returns. If Edge does indeed take the time, the question is who will stand up to help Rey fight doomsday?
