Bobby Lashley put his WWE Championship on the line in a triple threat match against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman at WrestleMania Backlash.
The match began with Lashley and McIntyre teaming up to get Strowman out of the match, but Strowman took the two men out with a missile diving from the ring apron as the match overturned at ringside. Strowman also used the steel steps on Lashley and this was legal as there is no disqualification in Triple Threat matches.
As they took the stage, McIntyre shoved Lashley through LED panels. Sparks flew off the boards and it allowed McIntyre to focus entirely on Strowman. Back in the ring, McIntyre nearly nabbed Strowman after hitting the Claymore but Strowman sent off. They got into a fight at ringside and Strowman tried to do the Strowman Express but McIntyre grabbed him and threw him over his head with Strowman’s head almost touching the ground. McIntyre attempted to hit the Claymore but Strowman grabbed him and bombarded him through the announcer table.
Back in the ring, McIntyre hit the Claymore but Lashley ran back and threw McIntyre out of the ring. Lashley then pitched and pinned Strowman to retain the title.
