One of the most controversial decisions of the 13th Indian Premier League season was Dinesh Karthik to step down as captain of Kolkata Knight Riders midway through the tournament. There were rumors that Karthik might be asked to hand over the captain’s post to England drummer Eoin Morgan at the start of the tournament and those rumors finally came true on October 16. .
The decision has been debated for over a month and with KKR failing to make the playoffs, the exam has risen further. In the 9 games Morgan has commanded, KKR was only able to claim victory in three. This led to two champions missing out on a playoff berth when they were one of the favorites to pass.

Former Indian drummer and commentator Aakash Chopra has opened up about the decision while questioning whether Karthik really has voluntarily stepped down as captain.
“Firstly, I’m disappointed because when you win four of your first seven matches and reproduce that performance, then you’re done, eight wins was more than enough to qualify you. Delhi actually came in second with 16 points, ”Chopra said in a video shared on his Facebook page.
“So if things go wrong from there you change captains halfway, it was said that Dinesh Karthik had given up the post of captain of the KKR but would he have done so?”

“Did the team’s performance improve after the captain transferred to Eoin Morgan? Whether Eoin Morgan is the right captain will also be a big question as he is a foreign player and is he correct in terms of tactics and is he 100% certainty in the squad although his performance was good in the end.
KKR only won seven of the sixteen games as they failed to make the top four due to a negative net run rate.
