Your guide to events in the Hamptons this summer

0

In mid-May, the social scene in New York calms down and the seeing and seeing crowd scrambles towards the Hamptons. The pandemic may have dampened the bustling events of the East End last summer, but thankfully it hasn’t this year: the May-September season promises a busy calendar of parties, fundraising and more.

The following list is by no means exhaustive, but it gives an overview of some of the gatherings that took place in the East in 2021.

The kick-off will take place on May 17 at 33rd Annual Geraldo Rivera Golf Classic at Old Westbury Golf & Country Club. Powerful broadcaster Sean Hannity will ring in the festivities to honor and fundraise for Life’s WORC, commemorating fifty years of making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At noon, Hannity joins charity founder Vicki Schneps and event host Emmy and Peabody Award winning reporter Geraldo Rivera.

The village of Southampton will host two events on May 28. Author Leesa Rowland will host a signing party at T-Bar Southampton for their new motivational book published by Hatherleigh Press, “The Charisma Factor: Unlock the Secrets of Magnetic Charm and Personal Influence in Your Life.” Cocktails and appetizers will be served during the event.

Later today, Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation Honorary Board Member Jean Shafiroff, also a leading author and philanthropist, will host a private celebration in honor of the town’s community animal shelter.

For nightlife, the Southampton Social Club will be a meeting place. Memorial Day weekend means dancing under the stars with DJ Loki on May 28 and DJ Lomo the following night.

The 4th of July holiday weekend gets off to a good start when the Southampton Inn hosts a poolside barbecue with dishes from the on-site Claude Restaurant.

On July 10, the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation will hold its 17the Annual Hamptons occurring. Tickets are on sale now for the fundraiser that helps support cancer research. Celebrate health and wellness through a memorable evening filled with food and music, as well as congratulatory moments for participants in the first-ever Global Walk to Flatten the Cancer Curve. Members of the event committee, Maria Fishel and Kenneth Fishel, will be hosting the fundraiser on their estate in Bridgehampton.

Celebrate July 14 at the North Fork at Bistro Demarchelier. The restaurant’s annual party will showcase coffee classics: steak tartare, duck confit, classic Niçoise salad, dauphine apple and quiche of the day.

The polo shirt is also making a comeback this summer. The matches will take place on private grounds in Bridgehampton. Expect trendy guests at the invitation-only event to sip on chilled rosé and champagne while cheering on their favorite players.

On July 24, Dan’s Taste hosts Chefs of the Hamptons: A Celebration of the 90th Anniversary of Guild Hall. Sit-down dinner at the new luxury EHP Resort & Marina will feature fine dining and a one-of-a-kind culinary feast with tastings from Chef Scott Kampf of Union Sushi Steak.

Later this month, the Samuel Waxman Foundation for Cancer Research collaboration for a healing lunch will take place at TBar Southampton. Guests attending the August 20 event will be able to chat with guest fashion designer Kobi Halperin.

On August 7, BELLA magazine pays homage to the season with its annual Summer Soiree at the Southampton Social Club. This year, guests will be rocked to songs by Boyz II Men sitting in decorated huts on the lawn.

Parrish Art Museum will hold its Midsummer Party Celebrating the 50th anniversary over two nights. Tickets will go on sale soon on August 13 and 14.

On the morning of August 15th, the 26th annual Ellen’s Run: Hybrid 5K Race will take place in Southampton. The event helps the Ellen Hermanson Foundation provide access to breast cancer screening, especially for uninsured people, and free psychosocial support services for patients and their families.

Then on August 28, the Prostate Cancer Foundation will hold its annual Hamptons Gala to fund the next breakthroughs in cancer research. Founder Michael Milken will host the event at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill. Past galas have brought performances by Bryan Adams and John Fogerty to the stage.

There you go: socializing in the Hamptons is back, and given how rare events were last year, this summer is bound to be much more unforgettable.
