Zachary Levi took to Twitter Monday night to ask for prayers for his father Darrell Pugh, who he said appears to be in the final stages of a battle with cancer.

“Sitting with him in my father’s hospital room,” said the 42-year-old actor. “He’s not doing very well at the moment. The thyroid cancer won’t stop and slowly takes over his trachea.’

The Lake Charles, Louisiana resident said that while doctors “might have a trick or two up their sleeve to buy him a little more time… Papa D isn’t long for this world.”

“Pray that he will be as comfortable and peaceful as a man can get. And that he goes home without fear or regret, knowing how loved he is.’

“Death doesn’t make me sad or afraid,” he said. “It’s actually an incredibly powerful part of life. One we will all reach someday. Where we go back to God, the source, and are surrounded by the highest vibration of energy, love.’

Levi received kind responses from colleagues, including Dean Cain, Sean Maguire, and Jane Lynch, who wrote, “Love and comfort and peace to you and Dad.”

Levi had previously posted a clip of his father in late November, ahead of surgery he was due to undergo in the ongoing battle with cancer.

He went to the site as per procedure with an update on his father’s health.

“The operation went very well and the surgeons were able to remove 90% of the cancer from his body! PuuuhRAISE!!!’ Levi said. “Thank you all for your continued and humble show of love, and light, and thoughts, and prayers, and just all-in-all deliberate, positive energy that you are and have sent our way. It has meant more than all these words can really say.’
